Zarine Boyce was born in Surat, India in 1944. In 1976, she immigrated to Los Angeles, California. She was invited to visit Houston by the owner of Floral Design of Britain, the professional school from which she graduated. She moved in with a family friend, describing herself as “the guest that never left.” Within days, she knew she would marry him and settle down in Houston. Her parents moved in with them in 1990. Zarine is now the president and CEO of The Boyce Consultancy Group, LLC, an organization of engineering and industrial experts in power generation, formerly owned and founded by her late husband, Meherwan Boyce. Since childhood, she has also engaged as an active volunteer to better her community. Zarine and her husband have hosted fundraising events for notable nonprofits including the Houston Symphony, the Houston Ballet, and the Houston Grand Opera at their home. Channeling her parents’ passion for adult literacy, she is the longest serving board member of the Houston Public Library. Her philanthropic work also involves serving the Houston Public Library Foundation, UH Moores School of Music, Virtuosi of Houston, Houston Galveston Stavanger Sister City Society, UNICEF, Society of Performing Arts, and Wilhelm Schole International. This interview covers her memories of a global upbringing in Pakistan, India, and England. She lovingly recounts the unique partnership she cultivated with her husband, and she explores her career history from floral and interior design to company ownership. She also discusses her Zoroastrian faith and the vibrant Parsi community that she has found in Houston. and.
