Trinh Ly moved from Vietnam to the U.S. through the ODB program as a refugee, sponsored by her sister. After 8 months in the Philippines, she came to the U.S. with plans to study English and biology at Orange Coast College. She aimed to become a nurse but later decided to be a stay-at-home mom. In this interview, Trinh talks about her childhood, growing up in a neighborhood that was a mix of Chinese and Vietnamese cultures before the revolution. She shares stories about the customs and details of her family's move from China to Vietnam, and their experiences during the time of French occupation. She also talks about her memories of growing up during the Vietnam War.
