Dr. Selina Ahmed was born in Bangladesh on December 4th, 1945. Not long after obtaining her Master’s degree from Dhaka University, Dr. Ahmed moved to the United States in 1971 in order to obtain her PhD at Texas Women’s University in Human Nutrition. Three years later, Dr. Ahmed left Denton, Texas, and moved to Houston in order to be with her husband. After working briefly at Methodist Hospital, Dr. Ahmed began her time at Texas Southern University where she has been a professor in the department of Human Services and Consumer Sciences for nearly forty years. She currently lives in Houston, Texas, with her husband and is a proud mother of three children.
