BIO

Sehar Javed was born in Lahore, Pakistan where she moved at the age of 3 and continued to move to 14 different countries throughout her childhood. She returned to Pakistan every summer and spent her time learning about her culture and Islam from her grandmother and extended family. Because her father worked in the oil and gas industry, she moved from one international community to another and attended international schools for her primary and secondary schooling. At 18, she moved to the U.S. to pursue her dreams of fashion design in her senior year of high school. However, she returned to the Netherlands with her family and attended a satellite school before getting married and immigrating to the U.S. with her husband. As her and her husband built a life for themselves, moving from city to city (Ohio to California to Chicago to Houston) pursuing various job opportunities, she attended multiple other universities before finishing her undergraduate degree after 17 years. She then worked in multiple organizational development roles before deciding to pursue her master’s degree in Human Resources at the University of Houston. Since then, she’s fostered an impressive career in HR, now working as an HR consultant at her own company, Javed Advisors all while being a wife and mother of two daughters. This interview covers Sehar Javed’s early life moving from country to country, her connection to her Pakistani heritage despite moving away at such a young age, how she developed such a decorated career in HR, and the morals and values that she’s instilled in her family and her own life.
