BIO
Philip Patrick Sun was born in 1949 in Manila, the Philippines, to a Californian mother and a Chinese father. He has had decades of experience in program management with a specialty in architecture and healthcare, which he received his professional graduate degree in from Rice University. Mr. Sun first visited the US when he was about six or seven in the Bay Area. He, however, spent most of his years growing up in Thailand, Taiwan, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and the Philippines, but subsequently moved to Houston when he went to Rice in 1968, from which he went to work in the UK. He currently spends his time in California and in Houston. This interview covers Philip’s travels across a variety of locations, including the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, and (of course) the States. He covers the lessons learned from his broad experiences, such as the significance of recognizing cultural differences in context. He also delves into his career trajectory in architecture and healthcare in depth.
