Imad A. Haj-Ismail is a Palestinian American civil engineer who at the time of recording had been in charge of the Houston Metro bus and train scheduling since 1989. Imad was born in Huwara, near Jerusalem, and went to high school in the area before coming to the United States for higher education. After attaining undergraduate and graduate degrees at Texas A&M, he began working for the Metro Transit Authority in Houston, and got married the following year. In this interview, Haj-Ismail talks in-depth about the immigrant experience and acclimating himself to Houston and the U.S.
