The special oral history collection is created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Amy Kan is a Rice University Research staff who serves as the Co-Director of the Brine Chemistry Consortium, the Co-Director of US-China Center for Environmental Remediation and Sustainable Development, and the Associate Editor of SPE J. She was the first case of COVID-19 on Rice campus after returning from a trip to Egypt with a group of friends, among which many fell ill of COVID-19. In this interview, Dr. Kan openly shared her experiences of COVID-19 and its impact to her life as one of the first cases.
